Magnificent Mile Lights Festival | Day 1
Day 1 of the the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival isn’t as action-packed as Day 2, but it’s still worth a visit if you’re in the area. On Friday, Nov 16 the festival kicks off at 4 p.m. with Lights Festival Lane. It’s located at 401 N. Michigan Ave and filled with booths from local vendors, a Kid Zone tent, visit with Santa and free goodies. Win a free game of bowling at 10pin Bowling Lounge’s booth, grab a mini Chicago-style pizza from Connie’s Pizza, get a free slice of cheesecake at Eli’s Cheesecake Company, or snack on a free bag of Garrett Mix popcorn. Along with all of the great deals, you’ll also find face painting, festive activities and live music. On Friday, the Lights Festival Lane will be open until 8 p.m.
Magnificent Mile Lights Festival | Day 2
Day 2 of the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival (Saturday, Nov 17) is jam-packed with holiday events. It starts at 11 a.m. with the reopening of Lights Festival Lane. If you didn’t get a chance to see everything on Friday, you can walk though until 4 p.m. All day, surrounding retailers, restaurants and attractions in the Magnificent Mile District will also be offering holiday experiences and special offers – so make sure to explore those as you’re out and about. Free concerts start at 11:30 a.m. at the BMO Harris Bank stage with meet and greets to follow. And at 5:30 p.m. the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Tree-Lighting Parade begins!
Tell Me More
Streets will start closing around 3:30 p.m. so if you plan on driving to the parade, make sure you arrive before then. At 5:30 p.m. Grand Marshals Mickey and Minnie Mouse will guide the parade down North Michigan Avenue to Wacker Drive, lighting ONE MILLION lights along the way. You’ll see everything from spectacular floats, massive balloons, marching bands and entertaining performances. At 6:55 p.m., fireworks over the Chicago River will conclude the weekend of festivities.
