Get Outside and See All Chicago Has to Offer While Staying Safe
The Willows Hotel is next to some of Chicago’s greatest outdoor experiences. Located in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood, and only two blocks away from Lake Michigan, the Willows Hotel is your hub for socially distanced leisure activities. The year 2020 ISN’T cancelled and we’re confident you can still have an amazing time visiting Chicago while remaining responsible and healthy.
When you visit, you’ll also surrounded by popular Chicago restaurants and shopping destinations, many within easy walking distance. For those looking to really delve into the history of our magnificent city, our good friend Sawyer J. Lahr of The Friendly Greeter offers a collection of historical walking and shopping tours, step-on bus tour guides, educational tours, and e-book travel guides. If you’re headed to downtown or the Loop, hop on the Brown Line “L” train at the Diversey Station (just a short walk away) and be downtown in minutes.
As one of the only “pay what you like” walking tours in the city, Free Tours by Foot will lead you through Lincoln Park on foot with their “Lincoln Park & Gangster Tour” so you can have the chance to immerse yourself in Chicago’s historic gangster scene. Tour the neighborhood and residential streets in which Chicago’s most notorious gangsters rebelled against prohibition.
All tours are socially distanced with proper safety procedures in place to keep you feeling safe.
VISIT LINCOLN PARK ZOO
As one of Chicago’s most loved outdoor attractions, Lincoln Park Zoo is open to the public with free admission. The vast gardens and large outdoor exhibits provide plenty of room for safe outdoor fun. Some exhibits include the Helen Brach Primate House, Kovler Seal Pool, Pepper Family Wildlife Center, and Regenstein Center for African Apes.
In order to support social distancing, reservations are now required.
Only three miles away from the Willows Hotel is the Museum of Contemporary Art. The MCA is an innovative and inspiring center of contemporary art that generates art, ideas, and conversations around the creative process. Containing exhibitions, resident artist displays, and permanent collections, and an outdoor sculpture garden, the Museum of Contemporary Art brings people together in a socially responsible manner.
The first hour of the day 11AM to Noon is reserved for people at increased risk, admission is free, and a one-way visitor path is implemented for your safety.
You must make reservations in advance to attend.
THEATRE & MUSIC
The Music Box Theatre has re-opened its doors with limited capacity to implement safe entertainment. Established in 1929, the Music Box Theatre is Chicago’s premier venue for independent, foreign cult, and classic films. Outdoor Music Box Garden Movies and Drive-In Screenings also allow for movie watching outside for open-air, safe viewing.
Outdoor dining has become the new trend, as we’re sure you’re well aware, and Lincoln Park has plenty of options to choose from.
