Chicago Free Museum Days

With Autumn winds quickly approaching Chicago’s skies, locals and travelers alike begin to have an enhanced appreciation for the city’s awesome museum scene. Chicago is home to some of the most interactive and informative museums in the country and on select dates, Chicago residents can actually get into the museums by paying absolutely nada!

We’ve compiled a list of the best museums in Chicago and their free museum dates from September through the end of 2019. All you need is proof of residency and a healthy dose of curiosity to see some of the best exhibits of your life. So avoid the cold this fall and winter by checking out these amazing museums for absolutely free.

 The Art Institute of Chicago

Year-round, Chicago residents can enjoy free admission to the Art Institute every Thursday evening from 5pm to 8 pm.

Hot tip: The Art Institute is always free for children and teens under 18 years old. The Art Institute is a great place to take the family because there’s something cool for everyone to see!

Field Museum

Every Wednesday until November 13th Chicago residents can enjoy this must-see attraction for no price at all.

Adler Planetarium

The Adler Planetarium will have free admission for Chicago residents on these select dates through the end of 2019:

September: 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th

October: 7th-9th and 14th-16th

November: 8th and 11th

December: 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 12th, and 13th

Shedd Aquarium

The Shedd Aquarium will have free admission for Chicago residents on these select dates through the end of 2019:

September: 3rd, 4th, 9th-11th, 16th-18th, 23rd-25th, and 30th

October: 1st and 2nd

December: 4th
